She's Back!!!
The past week has been a complete blur, but a fabulous one! My baby sister (okay, she's really only 14 months younger than me so baby is a stretch) came home from her mission in Brazil. She's so tan and beautiful and taller than me but that happened long before she left. When we met her at the airport we were all tears and screams at seeing our Belle. I made t-shirts for my family to wear. On the front they said "Team Shelly" and on the back they said "All I Want for Christmas is my Belle!" They were so fun to wear for her and everyone at the airport was giving us smiles and telling Shelly welcome home- even people who didn't know us. These are some of my favorite pics from the airport:
This is my mom and me throwing ourselves at Shelly. She barely made it out of the walkway before we were on her crying and laughing at the same time.
All of the girls, we were so happy!
The whole family, now we just need our Joe and we'll be complete!
I had a hard time letting go of her. I just followed her around like a little puppy.
She told me my purple in my hair looks weird.
I couldn't stop hugging her! I almost couldn't believe it was her. I felt like I needed to hug to her make sure she was real.
Everyone wanted to have a hand on Shelly.
At this point I think she was just laughing at me for all the hugs but I think she liked it, too!
After Shelly got home we went back to my parents house and all afternoon people stopped in to say hi and hug our girl. She was so happy and laughing and tired from her full day of traveling. She was always smiling though. That night was Christmas Eve so Shelly and I filled the family's stockings for Santa like we always do and went to bed at the very late hour of 9:00. Everyone laughed at us but I hadn't slept the night before because I was so excited she was coming home and she'd been traveling and couldn't sleep on the plane. We were both exhausted! We still stayed up another hour talking because I just couldn't get enough of her. Eventually we fell asleep and I woke up Christmas morning to the phone ringing- it was Joe calling! Bright and early at 7:00 am but he was so worth waking up for! I was so great to be able to hear his voice. I can't believe how much he's grown up! He kept pausing to think of the English words he needed because none of his comps have spoken English so he doesn't ever speak it. It was pretty cute. Joe and Shelly finally got to talk after a year and a half without each other so they were both thrilled about that. Our Grammy and Granddaddy from Florida came out for Shelly's homecoming so they both got to talk to Joe. He had no idea that so many people would be there to talk to him at 7:00 am! Even Robby woke up to talk to Joe and tell him to hurry home. Only 135 days left for him! The rest of Christmas was wonderful because I spent it just soaking up more Shelly rays. We all got fun presents and watched movies and had a great family dinner. Shelly got to drive her car for the first time and she was pretty excited about that.
I have to say that this has been the best Christmas ever! I got my Belle back and I got to talk to my Joe. The only thing I want now is for my Joe to come home and then life will be complete. And I only have to wait 135 more days!
I'll share one more picture and then this very long post will be ended. This was taken at our family Christmas party. Notice that Shelly is very brown while my skin looks like the snow on the ground. That's my life. She's so beautiful and perfect and I'm so happy my baby sister is home!!!

How to throw a Murder Mystery Party:

Kate Voegele
Saturday night Chelsey and I decided to go to the Kate Voegele concert at Kilby Court. It was so much fun! There were maybe 100 people there and we were all crammed in to this tiny space but it was amazing. She was so fun and has a fantastic voice. We were only about 5 feet away from her and we both has a fabulous time.

Party Time!!
For Girl's Night this month we decided to have a Halloween Party! We all dressed up and of course we were super cute. Stefanie was an 80's Chick, Chelsey was a Spider Witch, Jeanette was a Hogwarts student, Amber was Ezra's Mommy (her costume got stolen), Ezra was a Pumpkin and I was a Pirate! There was no one here to take pictures of all of us so we took turns taking them. These are a few of my favorites.

Halloween Town
My sisters and I were bored and when that happens fun things usually are the outcome. This time was no exception! I had the idea to make a Halloween Town out entirely from candy. We got several bags of candy and lots of homemade frosting and set to work. This is what came from it:

Okay, I'll Share
But only because I'm so proud of how well my little ankle is healing itself. It looks sooo much better! Don't take my word for it, see for yourself:

It's Been a While
Well like the title says, it's been a while. I did not die or leave the country, although both were probably options at one point or another. I was informed by someone that the pictures of my ankle were gross and I shouldn't be blogging about them and from that I kind of lost my liking of the blog for a while. But I'm back now. I don't have much to say because I'm not sharing pictures, even though none of them are gross anymore. I'm off crutches completely and have been for a few weeks. I still wear my walking boot when I'm out of the house but when I'm home I'm allowed to take it off and attempt to walk like a normal person. At first this was a real challenge but I'm getting much better at it. The pain gets a little less every day and hopefully someday soon it will be gone completely! That would be so wonderful. I'm hoping that I can go running again soon but that may just be wishful thinking. I never used to like running until I couldn't do it. Now I can't wait to start up again.
08 September 2009
Remember that super gross picture I posted originally of my ankle? The one with the purple and yellow bruises that looked like I'd been mutilated beyond repair? And you probably all thought that I'd never recover? I took this picture today so everyone could see that I'm not actually going to die:
Doesn't it look a lot better? It still hurts most of the time but I'm working through it. I'm slowly beginning to walk again. I look like I would imagine a zombie looks when I take steps. It takes me about 10 minutes to walk down the little hall in our apartment. But I can make it around fairly well with just one crutch so that's a HUGE improvement. Life is looking up!

I Heart Flight of the Conchords
"What have you got against Snoopy?"
"Not Snoopy, Snoop Dogg."
"I know he's a dog. I'm not totally in the dark ages. He's a lovable character."
